Hydrogen Recovery Demonstration Facility

The Organics Group wins funding for its green ammonia and hydrogen recovery demonstration facility as part of Ofwat’s Innovation in Water Challenge CompetitionOfwat the water regulator for England and Wales, has awarded funding to an Organics demonstration project in the first Innovation in Water ChallengeCompetition.

The £250,000 fund will contribute towards a demonstration facility using the Organics Groups proprietary thermal ammonia recovery system. A first for the industry,the project will recover ammonia in wastewater and directly convert it into a green hydrogen fuel.

Northumbrian Water will lead the work partnering with the Organics Group, Anglian Water, Cranfield University, Warwick University,and the Wood Group.

This project builds constructively on 25 years of extensive experience that Organics haswith ammonia recovery systems. The technology is designed to provide water companies with a cost-effective alternative to conventionaldenitrification systems, and willgenerateopportunities, not onlyfor green fuel revenues but also for enhanceddecarbonisation of the water sector.
